“The
preschool experience
prepares children for a lifetime of
learning. In preschool children are
introduced to concepts in a fun relaxed
environment. Children see that learning is
exciting and they want to learn more.
Preschool children
develop social skills
needed to get along with others and become
independent. Sharing, taking turns, problem
solving, and
language development
are part of the daily routine.
Preschool gives children a jump-start
to kindergarten. They develop pre-reading
skills, pre-math skills, science and social
studies skills. Children develop an
understanding of
listening and following directions as a group. These behaviors are important for kindergarten
readiness.
Preschool is a time to play!
Play is essential for all children's
healthy growth and development”.

The Preschool Enrichment class is designed
to enhance any preschool experience. Each
hour is filled with of crafts, stories, and
FUN! The preschool classroom is separated into a variety of
areas (table top activities, dramatic play,
circle/story, computers, science, sensory
and free play fun…to name a few!) and the
day’s activities are designed to mimic a
typical preschool school experience.
This class focuses on developing self help
skills, increasing sustained attention,
refining fine & gross motor skills,
increasing social-emotional awareness and
expanding communication skills. The
classroom becomes like a second home to the
children where they learn to explore, take
pride in and experience responsibilities in
their own environment. There are multiple
transitions during the day, “circle-time”,
“table-time” and “snack-time” are part of
the regular schedule. Class responsibilities
are assigned as children begin to engage in
functional group activities, such as
participating in obstacle courses, passing
out cups at snack-time and beginning to
dramatize and socialize with their peers.
The teachers work closely with parents and
caregivers to establish reasonable
expectations for future school programs.
They encourage parents to watch the
intervention provided by the staff upstairs
in the parent room (on the closed-circuit
monitoring system) and to meet with staff
daily after classes.
Each month’s curriculum focuses on enhancing
cognitive processing, introducing basic math
skills, encouraging creativity, writing
letters and numbers, and following classroom
rules and routines. Class time is very
structured and encourages children to
engage, socialize and participate in all
interactive classroom activities. This is an
inclusive classroom, where children with all
developmental strengths and weaknesses are
welcomed.
Pre-school Teachers are EDU-play trained and
are committed to teaching all of the
children based on their individual
developmental profile. This is done in a
small group setting (1:4 ratio). The maximum
amount of children in a class is 12 at a
time with 3 adult facilitators. (Typically
there are no more than 8 children with 3
facilitators). This ratio allows for an
ample amount of personal attention to be
given to each child, while still enabling
them to socialize and form vital
relationships with their peers.
Classes meet from 8:00am-12:00pm
Monday-Friday with an optional Lunch Bunch
offered from 12:00pm-1:00pm.
In order to provide the best atmosphere and
experience for all children, SBS
enforces a strict drop off policy. No
child will be admitted after
8:30 AM.
